How a random date is built
Range
Two fields – From and To. Both ends are part of the range: a date can land on the first day and on the last. Empty fields mean the default range, from 2000-01-01 to 2030-12-31, and the page says so under the result. The earliest possible date is 1900-01-01, the latest is 2099-12-31.
If the end of the range is earlier than the start, the page highlights the To field and swaps nothing on its own: two correct dates in the wrong order are a visible mistake worth fixing on purpose.
With time or without
The switch on gives time to the second, off gives the date alone, that is midnight. Time is always UTC. The page doesn't know your time zone and doesn't guess it, so RFC 3339 carries +00:00.
Formats
Four to choose from: ISO 8601 (2026-09-13T14:32:07), the dotted form (13.09.2026 14:32), RFC 3339 with the zone, and Unix time – the number of seconds since 1970-01-01. Without time, Unix time shows midnight of that day.
Order
Dates are shown from earliest to latest. The draw order means nothing, and a sorted set is easier to read.
Where the randomness comes from
Every second is drawn by the operating system's random number generator on the server. The same fields never give the same set, and the “Another variant” button just asks the page to pick the dates anew.
Common questions about the date generator
Which time zone is the time in?
UTC, always. The page doesn't know your zone, so it doesn't shift the time or add someone else's offset – RFC 3339 carries +00:00.
Are the end dates part of the range?
Yes, both. The range runs from midnight of the first date to the last second of the last one.
Can I get working days only?
No. The page doesn't skip weekends and holidays – that's a calendar rule that differs from country to country, and it doesn't know it.
Why are the dates different every time?
Every request is a new random pick. If you need the same set, copy it: the page keeps the fields, not the set itself.
Can I type a date in another form?
No, the fields take only YYYY-MM-DD. The look of the result is chosen separately, in the Format field.
Date generator – a random date from a range
The date and time generator gives random dates from the range you set: one or up to five at once. Handy for test data, for examples in documentation, for drawing a day, or just to avoid making up a date yourself.
How to use it
Set the start and end of the range, choose whether you need time and in which format, enter the count – the page shows a set right away. The first date is shown large, the rest on separate lines, each with its own copy button. The “Another variant” button picks a new set from the same range.
